MycoKey structure is based on :

• a cross level considering communication and knowledge areas, by including processes for developing Integrated Information System tools, share knowledge, strengthen networking, awareness and apply an integrated mycotoxin control approach, focusing on main food chains.
• a vertical level considering the scientific research areas of risk monitoring, risk characterization, prevention, intervention and remediation. Scientific actions will be undertaken for the main target crops to resolve critical aspects on technical phases covering all steps along the chain: field, storage, processing, and transportation.

In this framework, feasible solutions will be mainly developed to wheat, maize, and barley, to be applied to other food chains where appropriate (i.e. dried fruits and grapes), in order to solve specific problems.
